Professionals Who Care

ALBERT BANTA, PH.D.
INTERNATIONAL TREATMENT PROGRAM MANAGER
Dr. Albert Banta is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 17 years of experience helping individuals heal from trauma, addiction, and emotional distress in both the United States and Asia. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and completed postgraduate psychoanalytic training at the William Alanson White Institute in New York.
Albert’s therapeutic approach is grounded in interpersonal psychotherapy — a model that highlights the healing potential of authentic human connection. He believes that meaningful relationships, both within and beyond therapy, have the power to repair old wounds, build resilience, and restore one’s sense of wholeness.
Throughout his career, Albert has held clinical and leadership roles in world-class hospitals and treatment centers including Columbia University Medical Center, Parkland Hospital, and Terrell State Hospital, as well as private practices in New York and Connecticut. His international experience includes senior positions at premier rehabilitation programs in Thailand, where he was honored with the Colleague of the Quarter award in recognition of his compassion, professionalism, and contributions to both clients and staff development.
At Sahwan International, Albert leads the delivery of the International Treatment Program, ensuring that clients from around the world receive compassionate, evidence-based care within a culturally sensitive and restorative environment. Drawing on his cross-cultural experience, he integrates Western psychological depth with an appreciation for Eastern values of mindfulness, community, and balance — creating a therapeutic experience that honors the full humanity of each client.
Albert is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and the International Psychoanalytic Association. Reflecting on his philosophy, he often recalls Harry Stack Sullivan’s words: “We are all much more simply human than otherwise.” This belief continues to guide his work and his dedication to helping individuals rediscover connection, purpose, and hope in recovery.
